Dead end for the auto industry.

Hey all, it’s been quite a while since my last post. Now that the summer has come I can start posting once again without having any schedule conflicts. Do you enjoy driving your car? Do you enjoy having the freedom to choose when you purchase a car between a GM, Toyota, Ford, or even a Chrysler? I hope that on your next trip to the car wash before you polish that vehicle I hope you think about the journey President Barack Obama and Congress are sending the automobile industry on.
Barack Obama from the get go has chosen to rule the auto industry with an iron fist. Well, more like a jackhammer since through his policies he has contributed to the continued demised of the automobile industry in the United States. When he came into office he chose to bail out the biggest three companies in the country. Taxpayer money got wasted trying to rectify the direction three companies took due to the overzealous environmentalist in Congress. A group of clowns whose pockets are filled with green money so they stand in Capitol Hill in a circle singing Kumbaya in a room filled with florescent light bulbs eating organic food and drinking wine from recycled goblets. They typically neglect to realize that companies can only meet certain standards based on the technology available to them right now. Also, a “more environmentally friendly” car might not be a more road safe car. Their goal of having smaller, lighter, and more gas efficient cars puts a driver in more danger. If a collision occurs the smaller car can’t sustain as much impact as the larger more sturdy ones. President Obama will prevent any highway accidents from ever taking place though with all the money earmarked for infrastructure projects around the country.
Why the rant about environmentalists? Right now we are all struggling economically. All the solutions proposed by Barack Obama and his Liberal dominated Congress has resulted in an increase in the national debt. It has resulted in the loss of jobs since none of this money has made much of a difference since it won’t be available until 2010. Finally, billions of American taxpayer money got spent to rescue the automobile industry, and now these same companies are going bankrupt. The President on Monday proposed some of the toughest fuel efficiency standards ever imposed by the federal government. One more way to ensure that the automobile industry never recovers. One more way to increase unemployment, and also one more way to cripple such a vital industry. Instead of letting the companies design a plan to restructure themselves to salvage their business, instead they are getting told what to do, when to do it, and how to do it by a bunch of bureaucrats.
I hope that the President enjoys riding the Presidential Scooter around the beltway. If he doesn’t change his radical ideas about global warming as well as saving the environment the only eco friendly vehicle left will be scooters. Our planet’s health is important, but a more regulated automobile industry will just result in the total collapse of one of the largest sectors of the United States economy. James.
